According to the Law on the organization of People’s Courts 2014, a judge is a title in the court system appointed by an individual in accordance with the law to perform the task of adjudicating a case and settling other matters under the jurisdiction of the Court. In a broader sense, a judge is a person who exercises the main adjudication power at a trial, either presiding over it alone or as part of a panel of judges. Judges conduct trials without bias in public trials. The judge listens to the evidence presented by the witnesses and parties to the case, assesses the veracity of the parties, and then renders a judgment on the matter presented based on the interpretation of the law and their subjective judgment. Currently, judges of the People's Court in our country are divided according to trial levels, including Judges of the Supreme People's Court, Judges of the Provincial People's Court, Judges of the District People's Court, and Judges of the Military Court. Judges will be entitled to act on behalf of the State, empowered by law to adjudicate cases and disputes and make judgments for violations of the law. In Vietnam, according to the law, a judge will perform many tasks as follows: Firstly, Judge in civil cases, responsible for handling lawsuit petitions and petitions, handle civil cases according to the provisions of the Civil Procedure Code 2015; Conduct other procedural activities when settling civil cases according to the provisions of the Civil Procedure Code 2015. Secondly, judges in criminal cases, judges are responsible for studying the case files before open court sessions, conducting a trial of the case and conducting procedural activities, and voting on issues falling within the jurisdiction of the Trial Panel. In the Vietnamese judicial system, the judge has the most important role, because this is the highest position in the Vietnamese court system. Judges play a vital role in civil and criminal cases.
